Payloads

High-quality imaging and sensing capabilities are essential to the operational effectiveness of UAV platforms. The DroneCore Suite is designed to interface with professional-grade payload systems spanning electro-optical, infrared, and multi-sensor configurations, supporting a wide range of mission profiles including surveillance, reconnaissance, inspection, and search and rescue.

The listed payloads are fully compatible with the platform and have been validated through integration across operational UAV deployments. They are supported across three manufacturers - NextVision, Gremsy, and Teledyne FLIR - offering a diverse selection of gimbal-stabilized cameras and thermal imaging units suited for both day and night operations. These payloads can be deployed in custom-built configurations or as part of complete Airvolute UAV systems. The selection represents a set of imaging technologies that meet established requirements for stabilization performance, thermal sensitivity, and operational reliability across a variety of environmental conditions.

Use cases

Once a payload is connected and configured, the DroneCore Suite enables full control and data routing for a wide range of imaging and sensing workflows:

  • Electro-optical surveillance - daytime visual inspection, target tracking, and area monitoring using high-resolution optical cameras

  • Thermal imaging - night operations, heat signature detection, and search and rescue using infrared sensors

  • Multi-sensor fusion - simultaneous EO and IR capture for enhanced situational awareness in complex environments

  • Gimbal control - real-time pan, tilt, and zoom commands issued from a ground control station or automated flight logic

  • Live video streaming - RTSP streams from the payload forwarded over the datalink to a GCS or remote operator

  • Payload telemetry - sensor status, zoom level, and gimbal orientation reported back to the DroneCore system and ground station

  • Automated triggering - waypoint-based or event-driven image capture for mapping, inspection, and reconnaissance missions

  • Sensor data offload - thermal frames, high-resolution stills, or video recordings transferred to a ground station in near-real-time

All supported payload families are compatible with the DroneCore system and integrate directly into the onboard network and autopilot pipeline. Physical connection is made through a dedicated adapter provided by Airvolute, which handles the interface between the payload and the autopilot without requiring additional third-party hardware.
